As an advocate and ambassador for the outdoors and public television, Robert J. Garner has created successful partnerships with CMU Public Broadcasting and Central Michigan University that has led to the support of outdoor programming on WCMU-TV.
Robert, who is the former host of Michigan-Out-of-Doors, volunteers his time to host one of the biggest TV fund raising events that CMU Public Television holds – the Michigan-Out-of-Doors fundraiser. This live fundraising show has become one of the most-watched fundraising events and raises approximately $10,000 annually.
As a Producers Circle member for six years (donors who contribute $1,000 or more to WCMU-TV annually), he has cumulatively given personal financial contributions of more than $8,000 to WCMU-TV. In fact, he was one of the founding donors to this recognition society. At the university level, these gifts also are recognized as Presidents Circle gifts.
Robert currently represents the outdoors with his membership on the Natural Resources Trust Fund, where in addition to serving as a chair, he is one of the fund’s founding members.
