Career Services

At CMU, we care about ensuring our students' success after graduation, whether they choose to start working or enroll in graduate school. Our career services are among the finest in the state.

At every step of the way, our career counselors work with students to keep their goals in focus and ensure they are making progress toward their goals.

Here are a few of the many services we offer:

  • Student Success Centers in every residence hall quad have an academic advisor, counselor in residence, and a career counselor to meet at the student's convenience
  • Career fairs and on-campus interviews to get students face-to-face with more than 400 employers
  • Internships - Connections to hundreds of great on-the-job experiences to build a student's resume before graduation
  • Online tools that let students apply for jobs and internships and track their progress
  • Resume and cover letter critique available by e-mail or in person
  • Recorded and critiqued mock interviews to help students hone their technique - these can also be e-mailed to friends and family
  • Career Resource Center with a library of materials, employer videos, and computers

CMU Highlights

We are proud of our many accomplishments at Central Michigan University. The following are just a few of the highlights of this year's achievements by students, faculty and staff.

  • CMU''s recreation, parks and leisure services administration program is the largest undergraduate leisure studies program in the nation, with 458 signed majors.
  • The Michigan Music Educator Association''s 2007 Music Educator of the Year Award was given to Dr. Daniel Steele, associate professor of music education and graduate coordinator for the School of Music.
  • CMU competed in RecycleMania 2009. RecycleMania, a project of the College and University Recycling Council (CURC), is a national 10-week competition among college and university recycling programs.
  • CMU is the only university in Michigan to have a comprehensive, interdisciplinary major in public relations that incorporates journalism, broadcasting, and communication.
