Dual Enrollment
Admission as a dual enrollment student at Central allows students to enrich their educational experiences while completing their high school graduation requirements.
Benefits
- Students can take classes at CMU that are not available in their high schools.
- Students may take one or two college courses each semester or session.
- CMU Admissions will work with students to enroll them in courses that meet their individual needs once they are accepted.
- CMU accepts dual enrollment credit from other colleges.
- Dual enrollment students may count their earned CMU credits both toward high school graduation requirements and college requirements.
Requirements
In order to be accepted for dual enrollment at CMU, students must:
- Be a high school senior. Juniors may be considered in exceptional cases.
- Satisfy the admission requirements for new CMU freshmen - including a 3.35 or higher cumulative grade point average and a 22 ACT composite score.
- Receive a recommendation from a high school counselor or principal.
- Apply six months or more before the start of the class they wish to take.
How to apply
- Apply online or by mail using the regular CMU application
- Counselors must complete the appropriate portion on the application and forward it, along with the student's $35 application fee, to the CMU Admissions office
