High School Academics

A solid academic background will help prepare you for success at the college level.

CMU and the Presidents Council of State Colleges and Universities strongly recommend the following high school background:

  • English - 4 years
  • Mathematics - 4 years
  • Biological and physical sciences - 4 years
  • History and social sciences - 4 years
  • Foreign language - 2 years
  • Fine arts electives - 2 years
  • Computer experience - 1 year

Advanced Placement and CLEP

Students with Advanced Placement courses or other equivalent experiences may be able to test out of some of the university's required courses.
