Why Go To CMU

Your student should go to CMU because

It is large enough to provide a diverse learning experience, but small enough to remember the personal touches.
"Right from the start, CMU was welcoming - not only to our son, but also to us. The university provided an excellent orientation. Communication has been sent home periodically to update us on the university and its many accomplishments. We have been impressed from the beginning with the personal touch that the university has provided." - Sue Vokal, mother of Dan Vokal, '08

It has a great balance between engaging students in academics and activities.
Central Michigan University is a great fit for so many students because of its excellent academic programs, beautiful location and friendly environment. CMU offers nationally prominent programs and a supportive learning environment that is in many cases unmatched by other universities in the state or nation.

The students who thrive here are students who take their education seriously but also want to get involved in activities like volunteering, academic or social clubs, and leadership.

"Grades were always a top priority for my daughter. I was concerned she might not take the time to relax, meet new people, and become involved in CMU. Being in the Honors Program requires a high level of commitment and can be overwhelming to a new student. I suggested to her to get to know her instructors, get involved with student organizations, and a class she could have fun in. As it turned out she did all of the above and much more, which made her have a great college experience."
- Sally Wojciechowski, mother of Jessica Wojciechowski, '07

It is located in a safe, friendly community.
Central Michigan University is committed to offering students a safe campus with many resources available for their security. The campus has CMU-police run escorts at night for your students to get across campus, free bicycle registration, and volunteers monitoring CMU's parking lots.

"My daughter said she always felt safe at Central. She was involved in many organizations and when they would meet at night, CMU had options on how to safely get her back home."
