CMU Scholarships for Transfer Students
Many scholarships are available to CMU transfer students in recognition of their outstanding academic achievement.

Academic Honors Scholarship
- Open to all new transfer students from a Michigan community college with an associate’s degree or 56 hours of credit and a minimum 3.5 GPA
- No application necessary – qualifying students will automatically receive this award
- $2,000 per academic year
- Renewable for two additional consecutive years if student maintains a minimum 3.25 GPA and full-time enrollment

Community College Transfer Recognition Award
- Open to all new transfer students with a minimum 3.3 GPA and at least 30 transferable credits
- $1,000 award
- Renewable for one additional year if student maintains a minimum 3.25 GPA and full-time enrollment
- Academic Honors Scholarship replaces this award

Community College Honors Scholarship for Transfer Students
- Open to all community college graduates with a minimum 3.5 GPA and at least 56 credit hours
- $2,500 award
- Renewable for one additional year if student maintains a minimum 3.25 GPA and full-time enrollment

CMU President’s Award
- Open to non-Michigan resident community college graduates with a minimum 3.5 GPA
- Equal to the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition for the academic year
- Renewable for new freshmen for three additional consecutive years if student maintains a minimum 3.25 GPA, non-Michigan residency and full-time enrollment
- Participation in the Legacy Program replaces this award

Alumni Legacy Scholarship
- Available to children and grandchildren of CMU alumni

Dr. Leslie O. Carlin Scholarship for Transfer Students
- Open to undergraduate transfer students who have been admitted to CMU
- Open to applicants with demonstrated financial need as determined by the FAFSA

CMU talent, athletic and departmental scholarships
- Endowed scholarships are available based on need, academic focus, career aspirations and other criteria
- Most are awarded by CMU departments to returning students, but a few are available to new students.

Residence Life Scholarships for Transfer Students
- Open to all transfer students with 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point averages and 30 or more semester hours
- Download PDF application and submit to CMU
- Covers the cost of a standard residence hall room, value of $3,618 annually
- Renewable for students who remain in good academic standing and eligible to reside in a residence hall
