favorite sport at Central Michigan University. Competitive athletes looking for
the chance to play Division I intercollegiate
sports for CMU should work directly with our
Athletics Department.
Central Michigan University competes at the NCAA Division I level as a member of
the Mid-American Conference (MAC).

What makes CMU athletics unique is that it offers every student the chance to
get involved in sports or fitness on campus.
The Student Activity
Center
Conveniently located just a 10 minute walk from anywhere on campus, the Student
Activity Center, or SAC, is one of the nation’s finest athletic facilities on a
university campus. The SAC is a gathering place for students, offering
activities from swimming, to track, racquetball to bowling. Its
state-of-the-art fitness center is open to all students.
Intramural Sports
CMU offers one of the nation’s largest intramural sports programs with a wide
variety of teams and sports open to all students. Some teams even travel in an
extramural program, competing against other colleges and universities.
