Comai, former special adviser for information technology in the executive office of Governor John Engler, was appointed to the Board for an eight-year term beginning January 1, 2003. Prior to her role as special adviser, she was director of the e-Michigan Office, which launched in July 2001 a new web portal to all of the state of Michigan's online services and information. During these appointments, Michigan was recognized as a national leader in e-government by several prominent organizations, including a citation by Gartner Inc., an information technology consulting firm, as one of two states leading the nation in implementing e-government strategies. Prior to her appointment to e-Michigan, she served as the director of state government affairs for Governor Engler; worked in Washington, D.C. for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Department of Labor. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and holds a master's degree in public administration from George Washington University. Comai and her husband, Timothy Sowton, are residents of Ann Arbor.

Fannon, President of Strategic Operational Solutions, LLC, a business management consulting firm, was appointed to the Board for an eight-year term beginning June 14, 2007. He received his bachelor's degree and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Detroit. He and his wife are residents of Novi.

Hubbard, retired corporate vice president and chief diversity officer for Henry Ford Health System, was appointed by Governor Jennifer Granholm on January 27, 2005. While at HFHS she provided focus and leadership to link health and life style issues facing communities and partnered with others to promote good health among minority populations and is an advocate on behalf of employees, patients, and their families. Earlier in her career she was selected by Chrysler Corporation as one of the first four women nationwide to be trained to own and operate Chrysler dealerships. In 2008 she was appointed to the board of the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges. She received her bachelor's degree from University of Detroit Mercy, a Master of Science in Administration degree from CMU; and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from The American Institute of Holistic Theology. Hubbard lives in Bloomfield Township.

Hurd, retired president of Cabrillo Community College, Santa Cruz, California, was appointed to the Board of Trustees by Governor Jennifer Granholm on January 27, 2009, for an eight-year term. He has also served as president of Mohegan Community College in Norwich, Connecticut, and vice president of instruction and student services at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor. Hurd was a member of the faculty at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Eastern Michigan University.  He also served as Washtenaw County Administrator/Controller, as the elected township supervisor of Lyndon Township in Washtenaw County, and is currently the chair of the Jackson County Road Commission.  Mr. Hurd has a B.B.A and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan. He and his wife are residents of Munith.

Kottamasu, a radiologist with Advanced Diagnostic Imaging P.C., in Saginaw and clinical professor of radiology at Wayne State University's School of Medicine, was appointed by Governor Jennifer Granholm on January 27, 2005, for an eight-year term. Prior to his current position Dr. Kottamasu served as vice chief of radiology, director of nuclear medicine and director of the radiology residency program at Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit; as division head of pediatric radiology at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit; and assistant professor of radiology at University of Michigan's School of Medicine. He began building partnerships for CMU prior to his appointment and has been instrumental in bringing international students to the university for an MBA. He plans to continue facilitating partnerships between CMU and other universities and area hospitals. He received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Andhra University, India. He has more than 60 publications in peer reviewed journals and text books and coauthored a text book. He is a recipient of several research grants. Dr. Kottamasu and his wife live in Saginaw.

Opperman was appointed to the Board by Governor Jennifer Granholm on January 27, 2009, for an eight-year term expiring December 31, 2016. Ms. Opperman joined Dow in 1981 and retired from the company in 2009 as global vice president of government affairs and public policy.  She now owns a public affairs consultancy.  A 1981 graduate of CMU, Ms. Opperman previously served on the CMU Alumni Association Board of Directors, and currently is a member of CMU's Development Board, chairing the University Development Committee.  She is a 2006 inductee to CMU's Journalism Department Hall of Fame and serves on the Journalism Department Professional Advisory Board.  Ms. Opperman and her husband, Dan, have two sons.

Torreano was appointed to the Board by Governor John Engler for an eight-year term beginning January 1, 2003. Gail oversees Business Unit & Employee Communication, which develops initiatives to educate, motivate, recognize, and engage AT&T's nearly 300,000 employees to deliver on corporate  goals.  She also leads AT&T's global Sponsorships organization, overseeing relationships with premier properties in sports, entertainment, and the arts.  Her experience prior to joining SBC (then Michigan Bell) in 1991 includes serving as associate director of the Michigan Special Olympics in Mount Pleasant and working for Engler when he was the Senate Majority Leader.  In addition to her AT&T responsibilities, she is a board member of the Detroit Chamber of Commerce, Detroit Renaissance, the Economic Club of Detroit, ArtServe Michigan, and a trustee of the Michigan Opera Theatre.  She also has been a member of the boards of directors for the Michigan Political Leadership Program, the CMU Development Board, the State Board of Canvassers, and the state of Michigan Sesquicentennial Commission.  She has graduate and undergraduate degrees from CMU.  Gail and her husband George, have two sons and reside in Dallas, Texas, and Harbor Springs, Michigan.
