Transforming the visitor experience

The new CMU Events Center is a dramatic redesign and expansion of the existing facility and includes features such as:

• An entirely redesigned arena with 5,300 seats, including comfortable upholstered seats and contoured bleachers
• Telescoping seating to accommodate multiple arena configurations including athletics, concerts, commencements, speakers, community expos, and more
• A significant expansion including modern rest rooms, marketing areas, and permanent concessions space – all of which will allow for more universal use of the arena by the community as well as athletics
• A dedicated practice gymnasium will feature two courts, serve as a staging area for major arena events, and free up the arena to be used for many new purposes
• A 10,000 square-foot lobby and reception area will provide a face to the current facility, offer a welcoming space for visitor receptions and events, and celebrate CMU’s historic association with the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe
• A comprehensive overhaul of the exterior appearance of the building, transforming the center into the signature facility on the south side of campus
