Installing McAfee VirusScan Enterprise

McAfee VirusScan products can be obtained from the OIT Software Download Center or from the OIT Help Desk on DVD or CD.

NOTE: Any filenames referred to will be located in the place that you extracted the files to.

Installing McAfee VirusScan 8.7i & 8.8 (XP/Vista/7)

  1. Double-click SetupVSE.exe to begin the installation.

  2. If you are prompted to remove an older version of VirusScan before continuing, click Yes.

  3. Once the VirusScan Wizard appears, click Next.

  4. Choose 2 year subscription in the drop-down menu located under License expiry type. Accept the license agreement then click OK.

  5. If prompted due to an older version of McAfee, uncheck the preserve settings box, then click Next.

  6. Make sure Typical is selected then click Next.

  7. Make sure Standard Protection is selected and click Next.

  8. Click Install.

  9. Click the Finish button.

  10. A reminder will appear, indicating that the network driver was installed but is not yet loaded.

  11. Click the Ok button and restart your computer.

Installing McAfee VirusScan 8.5i (Windows 2000/XP/Vista)

  1. Double-click Setup to begin installation.

  2. If you are prompted to remove an older version of VirusScan before continuing, select Yes.

  3. Once the VirusScan Wizard appears, click Next.

  4. Choose 2 year subscription in the drop-down menu located under License expiry type. Accept the license agreement then click OK.

  5. If prompted due to an older version of McAfee, uncheck the preserve settings box, then click Next.

  6. Make sure Typical is selected then click Next.

  7. Make sure Standard Protection is selected and click Next.

  8. Click Install.

  9. Click the Finish button.

  10. A reminder will appear, indicating that the network driver was installed but is not yet loaded.

  11. Click the Ok button and restart your computer.
