I'm the Team Lead for the Web and Portal team at CMU, which is to say, I play the role of traffic cop. I manage a group of highly motivated and talented programmers who are responsible for a great deal of the web sites you use on a daily basis here at CMU. Our team is also responsible for building and maintaining the CMU Portal as well as the web content management system and many other web based systems.

I've been with CMU's IT department since the Spring of 1998. I'm a 1996 graduate of CMU and I am proud to work for my alma mater. In everything I do, I strive to make the experience for the students at CMU the best it can be. My goal is to make the experience for the next student better than it was for the last student.

When not managing the day to day operations of the Web and Portal folks, my main focus is on SharePoint, the technology behind the CMU Portal and planning for the next wave of innovation that my team will use to deliver online services to the students, faculty and staff of CMU. 

I enjoy what I do because it is never the same thing two days in a row - we're always learning something new on the job and solving puzzles as they come our way. 

Interests

I'm an avid (though not terribly good) golfer and I'm a nerd so I'm always looking for the 'next big thing' in tech. Some folks read novels in their spare time, I read tech manuals and programming books when I'm not herding cats.
