International Club at CMU

International Club eboard

All Central Michigan University students have the opportunity to be involved in the International Club. Currently, the members are interested in international issues and increasing campus awareness of the wide diversity of international cultures that are present. The club meets twice a month in the Bovee University Center in addition to organizing social and educational activities for its members.

In the fall, the International Club plays an integral role in CMU's International Week, which is held annually in November. The club offers an International Night filled with song, dance and food from around the world. Last year, over 600 people from the campus and community attended this evening of entertainment.

Each spring, the International Club hosts its annual International Expo. This all-day exposition of displays, entertainment and food has become a tradition on the CMU campus. The interaction and exchange between Club members and the community provides for mutual understanding and the sharing of experiences. Members of the community take advantage of this opportunity to meet Club members and learn about their home cultures, while Club members enjoy the opportunity to share information about their countries.

In addition to these major activities, the club also plans events at the student recreational facility on-campus as well as short field trips to points of interest around the state of Michigan and the surrounding area. In 2004, the Club began a new tradition as it built its first ever float and participated in the CMU's Homecoming Parade.
