Vehicle Registration Requirements
You must register your vehicle to park on the Central Michigan University campus. The vehicle's registration must be in the name of the student, faculty/staff employee, or an immediate family member. On-Line Vehicle Pre-registration for the fall semester begins the first business day of April and continues until July 31st. After July 31st, please use the Express Registration link, although you will need to come to the CMU Police Department/Parking Services to pick up your parking permit. Those students and faculty/staff who wish to purchase a summer parking permit will also need to come to the CMU Police Department/Parking Services. Your vehicle must be properly registered on the first day of classes for the fall semester. Please provide the following information so that we can assign your permit more quickly.
In order to ensure that you receive the proper parking permit, you MUST add/or edit the campus/local address you will be living at in September on your registration request. We do not need the room number (for pre-registration), but we must know the name of the residence hall you will be living in. If you are sure you will be living off campus and do not know what your local off campus address will be in September, please indicate OFF CAMPUS as your campus/local address. Faculty/Staff will need to add/edit their campus department address on your registration request.
If your address changes during the school year, your vehicle registration records must be updated to keep your permit valid. You can stop in, phone, or e-mail Parking Services @ parking@mail.cmich.edu to make this change. When changing your campus/local address by e-mail, your message MUST contain your full name, your campus ID, your old campus/local address, and your new campus/local address. If you have an e-mail address you use regularly, please include it on your vehicle registration form in case we need to contact you regarding your permit application.
All students must have their housing assignment and a global ID before utilizing the on-line vehicle registration link. You will receive your housing assignment from the Office of Residence Life and your global ID from the Information Technology help desk at (989) 774-3662. The housing assignment and student global ID (with password) are both required to complete your on-line vehicle registration.
COMPLETED ON-LINE REQUEST MUST BE SUBMITTED BY JULY 31 for pre-registration for the fall semester. For requests received during the pre-registration period, permits will be mailed to your permanent address by the second week of August. Faculty/staff parking permits will be mailed to your department address by the second week of August.
Special parking is available for students with disabilities. Certification by Student Disability Services may be required. A doctor's request may be required to obtain a special parking permit for the disabled.
PARKING REGULATIONS ESTABLISHED UNDER THE UNIVERSITY PARKING, TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIAN ORDINANCE AND ENACTED BY THE CENTRAL MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY BOARD OF TRUSTEES ARE STRICTLY ENFORCED.
