Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) protects the privacy of individual students by placing certain restrictions on the disclosure of information contained in University records.
In order for the Student Account Services and University Billing Office to release information to any third party (incuding parents), a student must first grant permission. A student has two options for allowing authorization:
- An Authorization Form can be signed and returned to the Student Service Court indicating the individuals to be authorized (form available during new student Orientation and via the link above).
- The student can set up an Authorized Payer in the QuikPAY billing and payment system, allowing the authorized individual the ability to view online statements, make payments, and ask questions about the student account.
