Graduate Studies

The Advanced Materials Research (AMR) Initiative provides competitive research assistantships for highly motivated, well-qualified students interested in pursuing research on advanced materials in collaboration with a CMU faculty member. Graduate research assistants (GRAs) will work closely with experienced faculty, while receiving a competitive stipend and a remission of tuition. For students interested in pursuing advanced materials research at the doctoral level, you can find out more about the new Science of Advanced Materials doctoral program at CMU.

To be eligible for this master’s level graduate research assistantship, students must first be admitted to the master of science program. To find out more about CMU master’s programs, visit the respective department to which you plan to apply: Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics. Applications for master’s level graduate programs must be submitted through the Graduate Studies website. International students may want to learn more about CMU through the Office of International Education.
