
The Parking Services division of the CMU Police Department distributes parking permits for CMU affiliates and campus visitors while maintaining all related records. This area is also responsible for the collection efforts associated with parking citations and citation appeals. All vehicles must register with the CMU Police Department.
Exceptions are pre-arranged special events parking and metered lots.
All faculty/staff, current students, and incoming freshmen are required to complete our
Online Vehicle Registration for the upcoming academic year, beginning April 1st.
On-line registration is an
ANNUAL requirement for all Faculty/Staff and Students. The listed dates below are
ONLY for Yearly or Semester parking permits.Student Account charges are only applied
AFTER your permit has been mailed or picked-up in the Parking Services office.
Registration Dates: - FALL - April 1st - November 30th
- MAILING DATES (Campus or Home) July 1st - August 30th
- IN-OFFICE Pick-up Dates, 2nd week of the semester - November 30th
- SPRING - December 1st - March 25th
- MAILING DATES (Campus or Home) December 1st - January 20th
- IN-OFFICE Pick-up Dates, January 21st - March 25th
- SUMMER - IN-OFFICE permit pick-up ONLY
Parking Permits are required Monday-Friday, from 2:00am-4:00pm year round.
All parking lots on CMU's Campus are designated for specific permits; these permits are posted on a brown sign at each lot entrance indicated by the decal letter and color permitted.
CMU Parking Meters are regulated Monday-Friday, from 7:00am-4:00pm. Cost for the meter is 25 cents per 30 minutes. Maximum meter time is two hours.
Open parking hours are Monday-Friday, from 4:00pm-2:00am and weekends. Exceptions to this rule are 24/7 restricted areas (Washington Court Apartments - W permits only - and Lot #41- Faculty/Staff permits only), Carls Center spaces, and Reserved & Handicapped spaces.

Visitors coming to campus must obtain a Guest Parking Permit. Parking permits are available 24/7 at the CMU Police Department; there is no cost for a Guest Parking Permit.
