Field Experience in Community Recreation
Page Content

Students are not limited to when or where they gain recreation experience. Most students are located in Mt. Pleasant for nine months of the year, and this information has been prepared to assist students with local (30 mile radius) possibilities while taking classes.

This list represents local recreation agencies and businesses that may have opportunities for you to gain volunteer experience. Each agency/business of interest should be contacted to discuss what opportunities might be available for you to help with. Some of their needs may be a one time special event or a part time weekly commitment. This is something you can negotiate according to your own schedule and interest. A student can volunteer in any of these programs regardless of your concentration.

Remember: Community Recreation majors need a minimum of 500 hours of recreation experience (350 of that in community recreation) prior to internship placement.
