Volunteer Opportunities for Students:
-
Girl Scout Troop Leader
Volunteering for the Girl Scouts as a college student usually entails
two possibilities: co-leader of a troop or a registered adult with a
troop. Registered adult volunteers assist with programs, events, and
other large projects that troops organize. A co-leader is a larger
position that involves attending all meetings, assisting with the girls
on a regular basis, and possibly taking on a leadership role in the
area.
Any students interested in volunteering should contact Jennifer Page at
jpage@gshom.org and can get a jump on things by filling out a volunteer application on the website at
www.gshom.org.
- Art Reach Picture Program
This September the ARPP begins its 28th year in area schools. Last year over 9,000 K-6 students in 30 area schools benefited from the program. Children learn about the great artists throughout time, what their world was like when they created their works, and to understand different styles of art. It takes only two hours once a month from October through May- all research and a one-hour training session at Art Reach are provided. If you can help or simply want to know more about the ARPP, please contact Nedra Fisher (989-772-2570) or Art Reach (989-773-3689). Training sessions will take place at Art Reach, 111 E. Broadway and are scheduled for Saturday, September 22 at 10 a.m. or Thursday, September 27 at 7 p.m.
