What is the Professional Education Unit (PEU)?
The Professional Education Unit is an entity comprised of faculty and staff who apply time and resources to oversee aspects of professional education programs. The PEU is recognized by Central Michigan University as one of many components in the university structure.
 
What does the PEU do?
"A Professional Education Program is a planned sequence of courses and experiences for the purpose of preparing teachers and other school professionals to work in pre-kindergarten through twelfth-grade settings. Programs may lead to a degree, a recommendation for a state license, both, or neither."

How big is the PEU?
The PEU reaches far across campus and includes working relationships with 6 colleges, 16 departments and 3 interdisciplinary councils.
The Professional Education Unit graduates more than 700 candidates annually in 15 undergraduate and graduate degree-programs and has more than 282 full and part-time faculty.
The PEU maintains 880 sections of classes and generates an estimated $13,000,000+ in tuition revenue.
