1.  Application Deadline

The application deadline for our May 2014 PA Program is September 1, 2013.  This is a "firm" deadline, which means that ALL application materials MUST be received by the CHP Admissions Office by September 1, 2013, to be considered for our May 2014 program.  This includes a completed CASPA application, three letters of recommendation, our supplemental application and fee, a minimum of 100 "paid for" direct patient care hours, and an official GRE score. 

For international students, please note #5. for additional application requirements.

Note:  CASPA's processing time is 4-6 weeks for a "complete" application.  Plan accordingly and manage your account so that ALL your application materials are recevied by us by the September 1, 2013, deadline.

 

2. CASPA Application

ALL students must apply using CASPA (Centralized Application Service for Physician Assistants), an online application service.  The CASPA student portal will launch April 17, 2013, for the 2014 application cycle.  If you start the process prior to the launch date, your information will be deleted when CASPA prepares their site for the 2014 application cycle.  To access the CASPA student portal, log on to:  www.caspaonline.org.  

3.  CMU Supplemental Application & Fee

ALL students are required to complete our Supplemental Application & Fee. The PA Supplemenal Application MUST be downloaded and completed on your computer.  Click here and then click "save as" to download the Supplemental Application, as it will automatically calculate your prerequisite GPA.  Note:  You must click on "enable editing" in the yellow banner at the top of the spreadsheet to be able to enter your credit hours and grade points.  Include ONLY the prerequisites required by our PA Program.  The mailing and fee instructions are noted on the last page of the spreadsheet.  Should you have any questions, please contact our office at:  989-774-1730.

4.  GRE Revised General Test

ALL students are required to take the GRE, and ALL scores must be sent directly to CASPA from ETS.  DO NOT send paper scores to CMU.  CMU's new program code is 0518 Central MI U CASPA, and the department code/name is:  0634 Physician Assistant

ETS will list all institution and program-specific GRE codes in its online and printed code publications and in the computer-based test package. CASPA will also post each program's GRE code on their web site:  www.caspaonline.org.

5.  International Students -  Foreign Evaluation (ECE, WES, or Josef Silney and Associates, Inc.) Requirements

Coursework taken at international institutions must be evaluated by ECE (Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc.), WES (World Education Services), or Josef Silney and Associates, Inc.  Official transcripts and an official course-by-course evaluation must be sent directly to CASPA and Central Michigan University, CHP Admissions Office, HPB 1212, Mt. Pleasant, MI  48859.  Canadian students are excluded from providing a foreign evaluation; however, they must send official transcipts to CASPA and the CHP Admissions Office.

6.  TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)

ALL prospective students who are not citizens of a TOEFL-exempt country must submit a satisfactory test score on the TOEFL or IELTS.  Score requirements:  79 or 6.5 on the TOEFL/IELTS for regular admission, 61-78 or 5.5 and 6.0 for conditional admissions. 7.  I-20

ALL international students who are accepted into the PA Program are required to submit to CMU an I-20 Affidavit/Statement of Support form along with evidence of financial support.  For more information, contact the College of Graduate Studies
