3 Program Components

  • Internship: Choose among many in several areas including: Political Leadership; Advocacy, Service, and the Arts; International Affairs
  • Academic Course: Choose from courses in several areas including: American Politics and Public Policy; International Affairs and Foreign Policy; Law and Criminal Justice
  • The Leadership Forum: Speakers’ Series; Small Group Sessions, Civic Engagement Project; Public Policy Dialogues on Capitol Hill

 

PSC credits - 15 hours in fall or spring; 12 hours in summer divided as follows: 

  • Fall and Spring Semesters - 9 hours of PSC 395 (internship), 6 hours of PSC 390 (independent study) - 3 hours for academic course requirement and 3 hours for Leadership Forum;
  • Summer - 6 hours of PSC 395, 6 hours of PSC 390 as above

 

Washington Center Housing

Residential and Academic Facility near Capitol Hill; apartments in northern Virginia and suburban Maryland (all close to public transportation) 

 

Expenses for Summer 2013
(based on CMU tuition for 12 hours plus housing and other expenses)
 
TWC: $11,615               CMU: $6,678                difference = $4,937
 
$1000 competitive scholarships to be awarded by CMU Political Science Department (5 total); financial aid available through TWC; regular financial aid usually able to be applied to TWC costs 
 

 

Expenses for Fall 2013
(based on CMU tuition for 15 hours plus housing and other expenses)

TWC: $14,480                CMU: $10,823*              difference = $3,657

Two scholarships to be awarded by CMU Political Science Department to cover the difference; financial aid available through TWC; regular financial aid usually able to be applied to TWC costs
* = based on 2012/2013 tuition rates (new rates unavailable)

 

Criteria for Eligibility

  • Political Science and affiliated majors (e.g., Environmental Studies)
  • Junior-senior status
  • 3.0 overall GPA
