Chris Austin
Director of Admissions

As director of admissions, Chris is responsible for activities related to recruitment, admissions and matriculation of medical students.  He manages the admissions office and staff and takes a leadership role in developing the marketing and student recruitment programs, as well as the creation of web and print media related to admissions.

Chris has been with CMU since 1997 serving in the roles of assistant director of CMU admissions, interim director of Alumni Relations and most recently associate director of Alumni Relations. He is a CMU alumnus, earning a bachelor of science degree in marketing and management in 1995 and an MBA in marketing in 2004. He began his position with the College of Medicine in August of 2012.



Jennifer Paulke
Assistant Director of Admissions

Jennifer joined the College of Medicine from Florida Gulf Coast University where she served as assistant director of graduate studies, a position heavily involved in student recruitment and admissions at the graduate level.  As assistant director of admissions, Jennifer will be responsible for recruitment and community involvement particularly with the universities, colleges and school systems in Michigan. She will work with the director and the admissions staff in all aspects of medical student admissions.

She received a bachelor of arts degree in business management and a master of arts degree in counseling from Cornerstone University.  Jennifer is a native of Vestaburg, Michigan. She began her position with the College of Medicine in August of 2012.



Christopher Brown
Senior Associate Director of Financial Aid

Christopher is responsible for administering the scholarship and federal aid programs for students enrolled in the College of Medicine. Christopher comes to the College of Medicine from the CMU Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid, where he has served as an Assistant Director. Prior to joining CMU, he held various positions in the areas of financial aid and admissions at both Alma College and the University of North Carolina at Asheville.

He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and a Master of Arts degree Educational Administration and Community Leadership from CMU. Chris and his family reside in Mount Pleasant.



Melissa Bussear
Executive Administrative Assistant

As the Executive Administrative Assistant, Melissa provides administrative support for the admissions team, coordinates events for the department and is the first line responder to inquiries from applicants about program requirements and the admissions process.

Melissa has been with CMU since 2001, most recently with First-Year Experience and the Office of Residence Life where she served as the Coordinator of Administration. She is working to complete her Bachelor of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University. She began her position with the College of Medicine in September 2012.
