Dr. Yoder was named the founding dean of the CMU College of Medicine in July 2010.  Prior to joining CMU, he served as vice president for medical education and research for the St. John/Ascension Health System.  With doctoral degrees in education and medicine from Wayne State University, he has held faculty positions at WSU School of Medicine and Oakland University, where he taught quality improvement in health care.  Dr. Yoder's clinical and academic efforts focus on improving primary care medical practice, medical education, educational program evaluation, evidence-based medicine and continuous quality improvement.

Ms. Biggs has more than 20 years of professional administration experience in medical schools and health systems.  Previously she served as the assistant dean for academic affairs at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Medicine before coming to CMU.  Prior to UNC, Ms. Biggs had 15 years of management experience at the University of Michigan Medical School and U of M Health System.  She received her juris doctorate degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the James Madison College at Michigan State University.

Dr. Kesterson has more than 20 years of professional practice in a variety of health care settings such as the National Health System in Great Britain and leadership roles in academic medicine, including experience at Cambridge University and the University of Michigan.  He brings 15 years of medical directorship experience to CMU, with special focus on physician practice operations and quality improvement.  Dr. Kesterson graduated with honors from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and has academic interests in the psychology of motivation and integrated patient care.

Dr. Lanphear is an expert in developing partnerships for community engagement in distributed medical education programs and has helped shape medical education programs worldwide.  He comes to CMU from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and brings management and teaching experience from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine & Health Sciences in Tempe, Ariz., University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth, University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and United Arab Emirates University.  Dr. Lanphear received an undergraduate degree from Western Washington State University, master's from the University of Hawaii and doctorate from Michigan State University.

Dr. Perkowski has more than 25 years experience in medical education, curriculum development and evaluation of institutional programs.  She came to CMU from the University of Minnesota Medical School where she served as associate dean for curriculum and evaluation.  A former Michigan resident, Dr. Perkowski received her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas in Austin, master's degree from Texas A&M University, and doctorate in preventive medicine and community health from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.  In addition to several national medical education leadership roles, her academic efforts have focused on student assessment, program evaluation, faculty educator development and accreditation.
