Executive Director/Mid-Central Regional AHEC
Lisa Hadden serves as the Executive Director for the Mid Central Area Health Education Center (AHEC) housed within CMU’s College of Medicine. Her primary responsibilities are to provide programmatic and administrative leadership for this newly formed non-profit organization which covers a nineteen county region in the Mid Michigan area. The Executive Director works with and coordinates programing with the staff and faculty of the CMU College of Medicine, health professions students, community organizations, business leaders, other universities within the region and various health constituencies. The purpose is to encourage students to seek health careers in Michigan, provide education opportunities to health professionals in underserved areas and assist in identifying clinical placement sites. Prior to joining the Mid Central AHEC at CMED she served as President & CEO for the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce. Lisa states the best part of her work is creating a new organization that truly makes an impact in Mid Michigan to support access to health care and increase the pool of health professionals.
Program Coordinator/Mid-Central Regional AHEC
April Osburn is the Program Coordinator for the Mid Central Area Health Education Center, housed within the CMU College of Medicine. Her primary responsibilities are to participate in the planning, development and implementation of continuing education programs offered regionally and statewide. She focuses on identifying and developing programs to meet the educational needs of the healthcare professionals working in the rural and medically underserved communities. April is a graduate of Ferris State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration. Prior to working at CMU, she was Vice President of Membership & Programs at the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce. For her, the best part of working for CMED and the AHEC is being part of two new endeavors and the grassroots community development.
Senior Administrative Assistant
Barb Torpy is a Senior Administrative Assistant with the Mid Central Area Health Education Center housed within the Central Michigan University College of Medicine. Her primary responsibilities include providing support for a non-profit organization in budgeting, marketing, scheduling that covers a region of 19 counties. Additionally, she assists with the College of Medicine in identifying placement sites for students. Barb attended Northern Michigan University for a 2 year legal secretary studies. Prior to joining the Mid Central AHEC, she worked as the Office Manager of Mt Pleasant High School for 19 years. For her, the best part of working for CMED-AHEC is paving the way for a brand new program and communications outreach and making connections with all the area organizations and partners that support the AHEC development.
