GEO 531 class work to be included in upcoming Mount Pleasant master plan update

The city of Mount Pleasant will update its master plan later this year and the work of nine CMU students will be included. Assistant professor of urban planning, transportation and human geography Xiao Guang Wang and the students in GEO 531: Integrated Land Use Planning, were tasked by city officials to analyze newly released census data and complete an analysis and write-up of their findings.

 

New geography concentration in global studies

The department is now enrolling students in Global Studies, a new concentration for the geography major. This program is designed to enhance students' global perspectives by building on the strengths of traditional and contemporary geographic research that emphasizes on foreign regional studies, field experience, and geospatial analytical techniques.
