Current position

Chief meteorologist and head of weather in Cape Town, South Africa, including television stations e.tv, e.news and e.newsAfrica

How CMU prepared him for his career

“CMU provided me with the tools to diversify myself in an increasingly competitive world.”

One piece of advice

“I would recommend taking your studies as serious as possible. This is your life in your own hands. Even though I’m a firm believer that college is 50 percent education and 50 percent life-lesson, one also needs to know self-restraint.”

Involvement as a CMU student

Student Chapter of the American Meteorological Society (secretary, vice president)

Biggest professional accomplishment

“Either receiving my American Meteorological Society Certified Broadcast Meteorologist distinction or being integral in launching Africa’s first 24-hour news and weather service, both of which I am very proud.”

Why he studied at CMU for a science-related degree

“Meteorology has always been a passion for me. When looking for the right school for this particular part of my studies, it was an easy decision knowing its reputation. Best of all, it had a broadcasting department within the university.”
