Applications

Applications for admission are considered at any time, but applicants desiring financial aid should apply by February 15 for admission the following Fall semester. 

Applications for admission to any of the graduate programs in mathematics are available through the College of Graduate Studies.

Admission Requirements

Masters and Ph.D. applicants with a Bachelors degree must have successfully completed 20 semester hours of mathematics, including MTH 233 (Multivariate Calculus) or equivalent, and one course in either linear or abstract algebra. Ph.D. applicants must also have courses equivalent to MTH 523 (Abstract Algebra) and MTH 532 (Advanced Calculus) for regular admission to the Masters and Ph.D. programs. Applicants who do not have both of these courses might be granted conditional admission.

International students must demonstrate competency in English by either satisfactory completion of a baccalaureate or graduate degree in which the language of instruction was English or a satisfactory score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The minimum required TOEFL scores for regular admission are 213CBT, 550PBT, or 79iBT.
