Central Michigan University elementary teacher education students have a unique opportunity to live, learn and teach in Oaxaca, Mexico. Students participating in this program will enhance their global perspective and gain valuable experience working with children in/academics/educ_humanservices/EHS---TEPD/EHSTEPD---MidtierExperiences/EHSTEPDME---InternationalExperiences/Documents/oaxaca.pdf​/academics/educ_humanservices/EHS---TEPD/Pages/oaxaca.pdf a bilingual school system — all while earning CMU course credit during the summer 2012. The program takes place over five weeks during the summer. 

 
Group meetings and daily seminars in Oaxaca will be used to prepare teaching activities and to process learning experiences. Students will participate in several cultural field trips as well as have free time to explore the vibrant life of downtown Oaxaca City, located in the blocks that surround our main lodging area, which has been noted for its cultural richness and history.
 
Students will gain global awareness through a short-term international experience and learn in bilingual school settings.
