This is an excellent opportunity for student teachers to experience an alternative student teaching experience in a diverse setting yet still remain in the United States.
The school population is made up of mostly Mexican-American students. Spanis
h is the first language of most students who are very proud of their schools and appreciate the quality education they are receiving.
This experience will provide student teachers with an excellent foundation for teaching all students. It provides student teachers with the opportunity to engage fully with the community and cultures in Immokalee.
Due to field experience schedules, excursions may vary. Three possible excursions could include: Florida Everglades, Disney Teacher Education Tour, Henry Ford’s and Thomas Edison’s Winter Homes, Kennedy Space Center.
