Students that have an interest in recreation, parks, and leisure services, whether part of the RPL major or not, stay active in various registered student organizations. These groups provide additional opportunities for field experience and employment connections. Here are the two main student groups affiliated with the Department of Recreation, Parks, & Leisure Services Administration:
Student Recreation Association (SRA)
The Student Recreation Association is a registered student organization on the campus of Central Michigan University for undergraduate and graduate students interested in pursuing a degree or career in the field of recreation as well as persons interested in having fun! Our main goal is two fold; first, to give students a chance to organize, plan, publicize and carry out a program in the University and surrounding community and second, to provide professional enhancement with a wide range of activities, to a wide range of students and populations within the surrounding community.

The club regularly participates in a wide range of activities, including rock climbing, ice climbing, whitewater rafting, backpacking, and sky diving.
Meeting Professionals International (MPI)
Meeting Professionals International is a Registered Student Organization at CMU. MPI is an educational organization focused on connecting students to the meeting and event planning industry, which includes a focus in: budgeting, communication, management, marketing, human resources, public relations, and many more. Membership in the MPI student chapter leads to membership in the global MPI organization. This membership allows access to MPI’s database of available jobs and internships, as well as general updates in the industry. Through speakers, events, and group trips students are given the opportunity to network with professionals while gaining first-hand experience.
