As Director for Educator Development Programs, Jean coordinates development opportunities for CMED faculty and community clinicians who teach CMED students. Her primary responsibilities include training and development support for CMED faculty and clinicians through workshops, resources, and individual consultations. Jean earned a Ph.D. in higher, adult, and lifelong education and a master's degree in college and university administration from Michigan State University. She comes to CMED after serving as chief academic officer, dean, and faculty member at the two-year college level. Her favorite part of working for CMED is learning about medical education and working with faculty as they develop curriculum and plan for the courses they will teach.

Andrea Beatty is an Executive Administrative Assistant at the College of Medicine (CMED). Her primary responsibilities include support for the Standardized Patient Program and Clinical Simulation Center. Andrea joined CMED in 2012 supporting Medical Education. She is an alumna of Mid-Michigan Community College where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Business/Management and Marketing. She has studied business and real estate at Ferris State University and is continuing her studies in business at CMU. Andrea has obtained Michigan licenses in Real Estate, Property and Casualty Insurance and Land Title/Research Insurance. She brings with her 20 years of experience in management, marketing, and event and project planning. She values the diversity of the staff, faculty, and students at CMU/CMED, and the opportunities we are providing for our medical students.

Ireta Ekstrom is currently the Instructional Developer for the College of Medicine where she has worked with the science and clinical faculty to build both the curriculum and courses. Before coming to CMED in 2011, she had several years’ experience at a major Michigan hospital creating patient education materials, was the Director of Professional Development and Training at a Detroit nonprofit mental health agency, taught at Oakland University, Wayne State University and Virginia Tech University and worked in Faculty Development at CMU in the Faculty Center for Innovative Teaching (FaCIT). She holds a Master’s and Doctorate in Instructional Technology from Wayne State University and has been extremely active in The International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) where she earned the Certified Performance Technologist (CPT) designation. She has been the ISPI Michigan Chapter president (twice), participated in evaluating conference proposals, Certified Performance Technologist applications and Chapter of Excellence applications, has chaired an international conference, has participated in the Chapter Leader’s Committee and is currently one of the past chapter presidents who were chosen to be part of the Chapter Partnership Committee Ambassador Program to mentor struggling chapters.

Brad Long, MSLS, is an Assistant Professor in the University Libraries at Central Michigan University and serves as a Medical Librarian within the College of Medicine (CMED). He has earned a Master of Science in Library Science from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, in addition to a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. His primary role is providing library services to the students, faculty, and staff at the CMED West Campus. His favorite part of working in CMED is the opportunity to develop new library services and collections in support of the CMED curriculum. Brad is also an avid fan of baseball, football, and hockey, in addition to enjoying hiking and camping.

Betsy Raleigh is an Executive Administrative Assistant with the CMU College of Medicine (CMED). Her primary responsibilities include working with the office of medical education on curriculum planning and development. Betsy also assists the College in curriculum approval and accreditation processes. Prior to joining CMED, she worked at CMU’s Global Campus with the International and Online Programs. Betsy’s favorite aspect of working for CMED is the satisfaction of being part of building a medical school program whose graduates will provide much needed quality health care to our communities for generations to come. Outside of work, Betsy is a proud mother and grandmother who enjoys spending time with her growing family.
