Ireta Ekstrom is currently the Instructional Developer for the College of Medicine where she has worked with the science and clinical faculty to build both the curriculum and courses. Before coming to CMED in 2011, she had several years’ experience at a major Michigan hospital creating patient education materials, was the Director of Professional Development and Training at a Detroit nonprofit mental health agency, taught at Oakland University, Wayne State University and Virginia Tech University and worked in Faculty Development at CMU in the Faculty Center for Innovative Teaching (FaCIT).
She holds a Master’s and Doctorate in Instructional Technology from Wayne State University and has been extremely active in The International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) where she earned the Certified Performance Technologist (CPT) designation. She has been the ISPI Michigan Chapter president (twice), participated in evaluating conference proposals, Certified Performance Technologist applications and Chapter of Excellence applications, has chaired an international conference, has participated in the Chapter Leader’s Committee and is currently one of the past chapter presidents who were chosen to be part of the Chapter Partnership Committee Ambassador Program to mentor struggling chapters.
