Biographical Sketch:

Janet Miller-Monfils, Ph.D., is an assistant professor in the Foundational Sciences Discipline at the Central Michigan University College of Medicine. She received her doctorate from Wayne State University, and she completed specialty training hydrocephalus at Wayne State University.

Miller-Monfils' research interests include hydrocephalus. She is currently researching the genetics involved in aqueductal stenosis, as well as pharmacologic interventions for hydrocephalus. She has presented extensively on the response of glial cells in the brain due to hydrocephalus, as well as treatments with shunting and minocycline, studying how that affects the brain's recovery. Miller-Monfils also has presented internationally at the Society for Research into Hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida and the Hydrocephalus 2010 conference.
