Undergraduate major
Current position National research council post-doctoral associate working in the materials and manufacturing directorate of the Air Force Research Laboratory located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.
How CMU prepared him for his career “The knowledge and skills that I acquired through my course work and research while at CMU helped me to enter the program at the top of my class and accelerated my time in the program. I was able to complete my Ph.D. program in only three years after leaving CMU.”
One piece of advice “Become involved in research and take advantage of the personal attention you will receive from your advisors and instructors. Classroom and textbook knowledge will only take you so far, but the skills and hands-on experience you gain through independent research and interaction with your research advisor(s) will provide you with a unique set of skills that will help you in whatever career path you decide to pursue.”
Biggest professional accomplishment “To date, it is having completed my Ph.D. and being awarded a nationally competitive National Research Council Post-doctoral Associateship at the Air Force Research Library.”
Why he studied at CMU for a science-related degree “I began my undergraduate studies with the anticipation of becoming a high school chemistry teacher, but after completing organic chemistry and getting involved in research early in my studies, I realized there was a lot more that I could do with a degree in chemistry. My undergraduate research experience alone was enough to motivate me toward completing my B.S. in chemistry and pursuing a graduate degree.”
