The CMU Department of Mathematics provides a variety of programs. Depending on preference, you may prepare to become a teacher of mathematics; study to become an applied mathematician, actuary, statistician or computer scientist; prepare for graduate work in mathematics or statistics; or earn a general liberal arts undergraduate degree with a major in mathematics.

An undergraduate degree in mathematics provides good preparation for graduate school and professional programs such as medicine and law or careers in business, industry, and government.
