### Diagnostic Tests

• Intermediate Algebra: MTH 105

The MTH 105 diagnostic test is meant to serve as a gauge to give you feedback on whether you are placed appropriately in MTH 105 (Intermediate Algebra). The test does not have any authority in the actual placement, but is designed to help you decide if you should remain enrolled in MTH 105, drop back to MTH 055 (Elementary Algebra), or consider taking MTH 107 (College Algebra). Since various high school mathematics curricula are difficult to compare, this test will give you an idea of the expectations for background knowledge upon entering MTH 105.

The following rubric can be used to help you make a decision as to whether or not to remain in MTH 105, however, before making a decision it is strongly recommended that you consult your instructor before dropping MTH 105.

If you scored:
0-3. You should consider dropping back to MTH 055.
4-7. You appear to have the background to be successful in MTH 105.
8-10. You should consider taking MTH 107 or MTH 106 (Tringonometry) instead.

• Calculus I: MTH 132

The MTH 132 test is meant to serve as a gauge to give you feedback on whether you are placed appropriately in MTH 132 (Calculus I). The test does not have any authority in the actual placement, but is designed to help you decide if you should remain enrolled in MTH 132, drop back to MTH 130 (Pre-Calculus) or consider taking MTH 133 (Calculus II). Since various high school mathematics curricula are difficult to compare, this test will give you an idea of the expectations for background knowledge upon entering MTH 132.

The following rubric can be used to help you make a decision as to whether or not to remain in MTH 132, however, before making a decision it is strongly recommended that you consult your instructor before dropping MTH 132.

If you scored:
0-3. You should consider dropping back to MTH 130.
4-7. You appear to have the background to be successful in MTH 132.
8-10. You should consider taking MTH 133 instead.
