Joining a student organization is a great way to network and further
your professional development. There are two organizations on campus
specifically for Accounting students, as well as the SAP User Group.
Beta Alpha Psi (BAP)The
Eta Epsilon chapter of Beta Alpha Psi has continued to grow since its
installation at CMU in 1985. The fraternity is composed of accounting
students who excel in their class work.
The Eta Epsilon chapter's
goal is to prepare students for the transition from academia to the
business environment, to promote knowledge in the field of accounting,
to enhance student-faculty relations, and to use their accounting
talents to benefit the community.
To help accomplish these goals
the chapter, along with SAS, sponsored programs for their members.
Representatives from public accounting, industry, and government covered
topics such as internships, internal audits, international accounting
techniques, and opportunities in the banking industry.
Student Accounting Society (SAS)The
Student Accounting Society (SAS) is a student organization within the
College of Business Administration. Its purpose is to supplement overall
understanding of the accounting profession. Although technical
knowledge is important, SAS recognizes that an understanding of the work
environment also is necessary. SAS helps to provide this information to
students throughout the year through professional meetings and various
activities with accounting firms.
