April 29th, 2013:
The CMU Police department is seeking information regarding an arson incident which occurred over the weekend. At approximately 2:40am on Sunday (4/28) couches were set on fire outside of Cobb Hall, near the dumpsters. No other property was damaged as a result of this incident.

February 18th, 2013:
At approximately 2pm an armed robbery was committed near Mission and Broadway Streets. This is approximately 1 1/2 mile north of campus. A male Hispanic subject had a black handgun and stole an unknown amount of money. The subject left the area toward Broadway St. The suspect was wearing dark blue jeans, a blue/black flannel winter hat, 5/7 or 5/8, with possible hair on his chin. If this subject is observed use caution, do not approach, and contact police via 911.
UPDATE: 2:20pm: Possible vehicle involved was a black ford mustang.
February 17th, 2013:
At approximately 10:56pm an armed robbery was committed at the Subway restaurant at Mission and Mosher Streets. This is on the north end of Mount Pleasant, approximately 2 miles from campus. An Hispanic male had a handgun and took an unknown amount of money. He was described as 5/7 to 5/9 wearing a blue hoodie. He was seen heading southbound from the location in a dark colored larger pickup truck. If this subject or vehicle is observed, do not approach, use caution, and contact police thru 911.
UPDATE: 11:40pm: Suspect description updated as wearing dark colored hoodie sweatshirt, grey or light colored pants, and a "baseball-style hat" with ear flaps. Vehicle was either a dark full-sized pickup or SUV.

UPDATE: 12:30am: No additional information is available at this time. Please continue to be cautious of your surroundings, and contact police for any suspicious activity.
February 17th, 2013:
At approximately 4:35pm an armed robbery was reported off campus, at a gas station at the corner of High and Adams street--approximately 1/2 mile off campus to the northwest. A male subject had a handgun and stole approximately $200. He left the area on foot. He was described as an Hispanic male, with sunglasses, grey shirt, grey jeans, and a black coat. If this subject is observed, do not approach, and contact police via 911.
UPDATE: 5:05pm: The suspect is believed to have left on foot, to the west of the location. STAY AWAY FROM THE AREA as the investigation is completed by the Mt. Pleasant Police Department.
UPDATE: 6:00pm: The investigation continues. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT POLICE TO ASK FOR UPDATES. Updates to the incident will be provided through various sources when more information becomes available.
February 16th, 2013:
An armed robbery was reported off campus, in the area of Mission Street and Appian Way, at approximately 12:22pm. A male subject committed the robbery at a check cashing store. The suspect is described as a Hispanic or Native American male with a black handgun in his left hand. He was wearing a black ski mask and black jacket. He was approximately 5-foot-9 with a medium build. He was also wearing black sunglasses. If this subject is observed, do not approach, and contact police via 911.
UPDATE: 2:30pm: No additional information is available at this time. This incident is being investigated by the Mount Pleasant Police Department.
February 16th, 2013:
The Isabella County Sheriff Department is asking the public to be on the lookout for a missing person who walked away from a residence in the 9000 block of East Pleasant Valley Road--approximately 5 miles southeast from campus. JUAN ROMERO III is a 19 year-old Native American male, 5-foot-11, 280 pounds, with long black hair (in a ponytail), with tattoos of "Big Brother" on the left side of his neck and another one with "Juan" and the number "3" on his right forearm. He was last seen wearing a royal blue t-shirt, dark grey hoodie, black sweatpants, and white and black shoes. He also may have an MP3 player with gold headphones.
Juan Romero suffers from several mental disorders, and is not capable of taking care of himself. He was discovered missing at around 11pm on Friday (2/15). He was involved in an assault on one of the workers in his group home yesterday.
There is nothing to suggest any danger to the CMU Campus, however the public is asked to be cautious, and to contact Isabella County Central Dispatch if he is located. They can be reached at 773-1000. A picture of Juan Romero can be seen below:
UPDATE FEBRUARY 21, 2013: Juan Romero III has been located, and taken into custody by police.

February 3rd, 2013:
At 11pm Saturday night (2/2/13) an armed robbery occurred in the area of Main and May Streets, just north of CMU's main campus. Suspects were described as three black males, one wearing a gray jacket, blue jeans, and brown boots. A possible vehicle involved was described as a black Chevrolet extended cab pickup with a cap. Anyone with information is asked to contact Isabella County Central Dispatch at 774-1000, or CMU Police at 774-3081. Use caution and do not approach these subjects! Due to the location of the incident, this is being investigated by the Mount Pleasant Police Department.
January 17th, 2013:
The CMU Police Department received a report of an abduction at gunpoint which occurred in the parking lot of the Student Activity Center. The incident is believed to have happened at approximately 9:30pm on Wednesday (1/16), and was reported to police approximately an hour later.
The suspect took the female victim and her vehicle, and they exited campus property to the south. After some time, the victim did escape the suspect, and summoned assistance at a nearby house. This occurred approximately 4 miles south of CMU's campus.
The male subject is described as a white male, with short blond hair, approximately 160 pounds, 5 foot 8 and between 20 to 30 years old. He was last seen with the victim's vehicle, a 2003 Blue Ford Escape; in the area of South Mission and Blanchard Roads.
The CMU Police department is working in conjunction with the Isabella County Sheriff's Department as the incident is investigated. Anyone with information is asked to contact the CMU Police Department at 774-3081, or Isabella County Central Dispatch at 773-1000.
UPDATE: 12:45am: The victim is safe with the police. The suspect is being sought, and possible locations being investigated.
UPDATE: 1:35am: The Blue, 2003, Ford Escape has a Michigan registration of CNN9599. Officers continue to investigate potential leads as to the location of the suspect and vehicle.
UPDATE: 3:05am: Possible locations of the suspect and vehicle are still being investigated at this time.
UPDATE: 5:00am: At this time the suspect is no longer at large, and the vehicle in question has also been located. The incident remains under investigation.
UPDATE: 6:05am: Any further information regarding this incident will be made available later this morning. At this time there is nothing to suggest any danger to the campus or community.

January 13th, 2013:
The CMU Police Department is investigating a strong-arm robbery incident which ocurred at approximately 2:15am this morning, near parking Lot 42 and the 7-11 Store on Broomfield St.
A victim was approached by two males, and they demanded his wallet. Mention of a knife was made, but no weapons were observed. The male suspects are described as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a grey "hoodie" and blue jeans; and a white male, approximately 5-foot-10, wearing a black zip-up hoodie and blue jeans. The victim in this incident was not injured.

January 10th, 2013:
The CMU Police Department is investigating an incident of property destruction which occurred in parking Lot 70, near Theunissen Baseball Stadium. The investigation revealed that numerous vehicle tires were punctured by a tool or knife. Roughly 25 vehilces tires were damaged, amounting to over $4000 in damage. Additionally several vehicles had their gas caps removed and antennas bent.
The CMU Police Department is currently offering a $250 reward for information which leads to the apprehension/arrest of the individuals involved in this crime. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the department at 774-3081 or the Tip Line at 774-1TIP.
November 16th, 2012:
The CMU Police Department and other local law enforcement are investigating a series of incidents involving damaged vehicles, and theft from vehicles. These incidents have been occurring on-campus and in the Mt. Pleasant community. Some have occurred at night, and others have occurred during daytime hours. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the CMU Police Department at 774-3081 or the Tip Line at 774-1TIP. Information can also be submitted anonymously online HERE.
The CMU Police and Mount Pleasant Police recently made an arrest which is tied to more than one of these events. However, the public is encouraged to report any observed suspicious activity; and to secure vehicles and property. It is always advisable to lock your car doors and not leave property visible in an unoccupied vehicle.
