Lecturer Mark Ranzenberger brings a long-time professional viewpoint into Central Michigan University’s journalism classes. Ranzenberger has been an awa
rd-winning Michigan professional journalist in broadcast, print and now online for more than 35 years. He is a graduate of CMU’s journalism program, and joined the faculty in 1999.
He continues to work in the field as the online editor of TheMorningSun.com, honored by the Associated Press with its 2011 Best Digital Presence award and other honors.
Ranzenberger is a firm believer in the digital delivery of news, but recognizes that other forms of delivery, including video, audio and print will not disappear. Drawing on his experience across media, he teaches that excellent journalism and excellent storytelling are necessary, no matter the medium used to deliver the story.
He is the father of four adult children and is married to Karen Ranzenberger, who directs CMU’s online undergraduate programs. They live in Mt. Pleasant.
