Theatre and interpretation faculty and staff members believe that participation in theatre and interpretation productions is an important component of your education and training. One of the major goals of the program is to offer you many opportunities to participate in a wide variety of productions.

• University Theatre - University Theatre sponsors six productions annually. Each is directed and designed by faculty and staff. Advanced design/technical production students have opportunities to design scenery, costumes, and lights.

• Studio Theatre Series - Students have opportunities to direct and design productions as well as work with faculty on small-scale productions. Primary emphasis is placed on interaction between directors and actors and the creative use of playing space.  Past productions include: Advance Directing student productions, Alpha Psi Omega One-Act plays, UT Dance Company Student Choreography Showcase, and much more. 

• CMU Summer Theatre - A paid company of 10 to 15 students performs three playing in Mount Pleasant and other areas of the state. All company members are involved in all areas of production, including construction, lighting, props, box office management, and performance.

• Interpretation Program - Students develop individual and group performances of literary works that were not originally written for the stage, including poetry, short stories, novels, journals, personal narratives, and essays. Presentations are made at various times throughout the year and at festivals throughout the country.

• Alpha Psi Omega - This national honorary dramatics fraternity also is active in presenting a series of plays.
