Made up of music faculty members at
Central Michigan University
, the Powers Woodwind Quintet performs and gives clinics around Michigan and the midwest. The group, formed in 1963, has also played in Japan. Members of the quintet play in many other groups including the Midland, Saginaw, and Grand Rapids Symphonies, Swannanoa Chamber Players, Crescent Duo, Central Michigan Reed Trio, and Concert d'amis. The quintet can be heard on The Brementown Musicians CD from Centaur Records.
Workshops
The Members of the Powers Quintet take part in Central Michigan University's annual Instrumental Workshop, usually in November. Band Directors may register to bring 2 students on each instrument for a day of workshops and clinics. For fees and schedule information, contact the Central Michigan University School of Music in the fall at 989-772-3281.
Camp
The Members of the Powers Quintet take part in Central Michigan University's annual Instrumental Camp, held in June of each year. Instrumental faculty work closely with students each day. Students also play in ensembles and attend class sessions.
