The mission of the Central Michigan GEMS Center is to:

1. Increase educational opportunities for PK-12 inservice and Central Michigan University preservice teachers;
2. Expand instructional services to schools, school districts, and governmental education agencies throughout the state of Michigan;
3. To conduct evidence-based research and add to the research literature on effective classroom practices in math, science, environmental, technology, and service-learning education; and
4. Develop a network of PK-12 math and science teacher leaders throughout the state of Michigan.
5. Establish and maintain Science Professional Development Schools with several elementary and secondary schools in the mid-Michigan area.
