Northwestern Michigan Community College (NMC) in Traverse City and CMU have a collaborative with the University Center located in Traverse City and provide a program for teacher preparation as a path for individuals in the northern Michigan area to become certified teacher at the elementary level which includes grades K-8. This program is designed to provide NMC students with an option to take CMU course of study in order to complete a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with a major in Integrated Science. All courses for both NMC and CMU are delivered in the Traverse City area by departmental approved faculty. Completion of all courses and program requirements will result in the B.S. in Education degree from CMU and a recommendation for the Michigan Provisional Elementary teaching certificate.
