In order for a student to be recommended for teacher certification through Michigan Department of Education the student must provide a valid adult/child CPR and First Aid certificate to Sarah Venman in EHS 421 just prior to student teaching.

Students MUST take First Aid/CPR courses through one of the Michigan Department of Education approved course providers.

Any individual with physical limitations that make it impractical to obtain Adult/Child CPR and First Aid certification should complete a form available from EHS-CSS in EHS 421.

Your original Adult/Child CPR and First Aid certification cards must be turned into EHS 421. You can drop them off in EHS 421, mail them, or fax them (BOTH front and back of cards) to 989-774-3624, Attn: Teacher Certification. 

Beginning Fall 2012, it is a requirement for students to complete First Aid and Adult/Child CPR training prior to student teaching. If you complete your student teaching experience more than one year prior to being recommended by CMU to the state for teacher certification you will need to check the expiration date and re-certify if necessary.

If you are Student Teaching in Fall 2013, you must have your CPR/First Aid cards/certificate turned in to EHS 421 by April 23rd.

URec CPR & First Aid Courses

This course provides individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for
breathing emergencies, perform CPR and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illness until advanced medical personnel arrive. Valid for two years. Registration is available in person at the URec Program Desk or may be mailed Only checks (payable to CMU) are accepted for mail-ins.

Fee: $60 URec Employees / $75 Teacher Ed / $100 CMU Community
