Supporting Michigan Schools with Reform That Works
The Center for Excellence in Education at Central Michigan University is a Michigan-based organization specializing in innovative professional development for the educational community. The Center has provided comprehensive school improvement services to high-needs middle and high schools for more than a decade. A hallmark of the Center's work is knowledgeable, Michigan-trained teachers and administrators serving as academic and leadership coaches, who work alongside principals and teachers to re-culture the school.
What does the CEIE reform model provide?
Each of the twelve components of the CEIE service model is aligned with the four core recommendations from the Institute of Education Services for "Turning Around Chronically Low-Performing Schools".

What services does CEIE provide?
On-site Leadership Coach, who works one-on-one with the building administrator and teacher leaders. The leadership coach helps coordinate all school reform initiatives, reviews data to inform the work of the Center, and builds relationship to foster trust and increase efficacy.
On-site Academic Literacy and Math Coaches will work with teachers to model and implement research-based instructional strategies to improve achievement for all students.
Leadership Seminars provide a team from your building with excellent opportunities to enhance leadership skills and network with leaders from other Michigan schools.
Customized Professional Development based on the needs of each individual school. The Center will provide professional development including: inclusionary practices; cooperative learning; differentiated instruction; studying student work; skills of collaboration; and assessment.
