Richard Parr received his B.S. in Physical Education from Plymouth State College in New Hampshire in 1965. He received his M.A. in Health Education from Central Michigan University in 1966. He received his Ed.D. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Northern Colorado in 1971. Dr. Parr has held many professional memberships and offices.
Dr. Parr has taught at Central Michigan University for 43+ years. Dr. Parr has devoted much of his life to promoting physical activity with his work at Central Michigan University as well as his many years on the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Michigan Foundation Boards. He devoted his career to the study of obesity, exercise and community weight loss. He has greatly impacted the health of the state through education, awareness, and lifestyle tips. His dedication to the efforts of the Governor's Council and Michigan Fitness Foundation has helped promote programs and successful tools in the fight against childhood obesity.
