Dr. Saxe joined Central Michigan University's team of adjunct professors in 2007 serving as the Physician Assistant Program's surgery course director. He is Board Certified in General Surgery and earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Michigan.

Dr. Saxe currently works for the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University. He is the surgery residency program director and assistant chairman for the Department of Surgery. He directs the junior year surgery clerkship across the six MSU campuses. He is the Block II (second year medical student) director.

Dr. Saxe previously was director of the Senior and Junior Medical Student Clerkship at MSU's Flint campus. He held various positions at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint such as founding member of the Research Advisory Board, member of the Continuing Medical Education Committee, member of the Medical Educational Committee, member of the Ethics Committee, director of Surgical Education, and member of the Trauma Peer Review Committee. Dr. Saxe worked at Sinai Hospital as program director in Surgery, chief of Endocrine Surgery, chairman of the Ethics Committee, and chairman of the Medical Records Committee. He was assistant clinical professor for the University of Michigan, assistant professor of the Davis Medical Center at the University of California, senior surgeon for the National Cancer Institute, and deputy chief of Surgery for the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital in Boston.

Dr. Saxe has published and presented extensively in the field of endocrine surgery particularly parathyroid surgery. He received the J. Edward Berk Award for the "Member of the Attending Staff Contributing Most to Housestaff Education" six times while at Sinai Hospital, was awarded the Outstanding Surgical Educator Award from MSU in 2006, and the 2004 Distinguished Service Award from the Flint Area Islamic Medical Society. Most recently he received the "Green Apple Award" for outstanding teaching of second-year medical students.
