Dr. Brian Copeland, MD, Chief of Neurosurgery and Gamma Knife Medical Director at MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland, Michigan, received his medical degree from Columbia University in New York, New York.  Dr. Copeland completed his General Surgery internship and residency at the University of Minnesota Hospitals, and served as Assistant, Senior, and Chief Resident in Neurosurgery at Columbia-Presbyterian in New York City.  He is certified by the United States Board of Medical Examiners and American Board of Neurological Surgeons, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Copeland has published extensively on a range of topics and has held academic appointments as Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery, University of California, San Diego; and Adjunct Assistant Professor and Adjunct Associate Professor in The Scripps Research Institute Department Of Molecular and Experimental Medicine in La Jolla, California.  Before relocating to Midland in 2000, Dr. Copeland held positions as Staff Neurosurgeon and as Head of the Division of Neurosurgery at the Scripps Clinic in La Jolla.  He also operated a private practice (Neurosurgical Medical Clinic) in San Diego, California.  Dr. Copeland received his radiosurgery training throughout the United States, as well as in Sweden and France.

Dr. Copeland provides lectures to Central Michigan University's Physician Assistant Program students.
