Education

Raphael Coiman joins the Physician Assistant Program's team of Guest Faculty with over 37 years of experience in Surgery.  He received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Carabobo School of Medicine in Valencia, Venezuela, and completed his Residency in General Surgery  in Venezuela followed by a Fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in France and the United States. 

Employment

Raphael Coiman served as a Surgeon Specialist in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Hand Surgery in Caracas, Venezuela for ten years before taking a position as Microsurgery Fellow at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas in 1991.  Since 1993, he has served as Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) in Minnesota, Texas, and Michigan.  He has also held teaching positions in Plastic Surgery and Microsurgical Techniques.

Raphael Coiman provides instruction to CMU PA Program students in suturing techniques.
