Dr. Sandra Howell joined the Physician Assistant Program's team of Adjunct Faculty in 1996.  She earned her medical degree from the University of Missouri Columbia School of Medicine in Columbia, Missouri in 1986, and completed her general surgery internship and residency at the University of Missouri St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, where she held the position of Chief Resident from 1990-1991.  Dr. Howell  is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons.

Employment

Dr. Howell currently operates Howell Breast Surgical Services, with offices in Bay City and Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.  Prior to opening Howell Breast Surgical Services in 2004, Dr. Howell practiced general surgery for 13 years in such places as Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mt. Pleasant; Ozark Surgical Associates in Springfield, Missouri; University Surgical Associates in Kansas City, Missouri; and in two solo private practices in Mt. Pleasant.  At Central Michigan Community Hospital, she also held the positions of Chief of Staff, Medical Executive Committee Member at Large, and Chairman of the Department of Surgery.

Dr. Howell is active in various professional organizations as well as in the community, including serving as Medical Director of Community Cancer Services of Isabella County.  Her specialties include general surgery and breast health and surgery.
