Tracy is the associate director at the Institute for Health and Business Insight (IHBI@CMU). She directs proof-of-concept data mining and predictive analytics projects across multiple industries (health care, manufacturing, banking, etc.) and business challenge areas (customer loyalty, predictive warranty, site location, demand forecasting, etc). She works directly with companies and organizations such as General Motors, Dow Chemical, Harley-Davidson, Access Alliance of Michigan, the State of Michigan, Henry Ford Health System and many others. She also co-leads the data group for the Michigan Health Information Alliance.
Before joining IHBI@CMU in 2008, Tracy was a consultant working with the Detroit Medical Center and other organizations. She worked with executives to implement industry-specific best practices and improve data-driven decision-making. While working with Sinai-Grace Hospital in Detroit, she led the design of a cardiology program that was supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (valued at $1,000,000). She also developed an innovative education program for the Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program (DAPCEP) that was funded by the National Science Foundation ($900,000).
Tracy spent nearly a decade working in Washington, DC. She was an economist at the Economic Research Service and later the executive director of a national science organization (C-FARE). While serving in this capacity, she was an invited speaker before the National Academy of Sciences on two occasions. She also advised members of Congress and the presidential administration through testimony, meetings, and formal speeches. She has written a number of publications on topics related to agricultural economics and national science policy.
Tracy earned a BA in economics from the Honor's College at Michigan State University (1988) and a MS in applied economics from the College of Agriculture at Michigan State University (1992). For more information, please contact
